Here is more information on Coin Career Community.
This resource combines the proven reliability and ease of the Coin
Career Guidance System with the accessibility of the Internet to make
students' career exploration and planning available 24 hours a day. The
Coin Career Community offers students, counselors, teachers, and parents
a centralized location to work together on career guidance, with user
interfaces tailored to the differing needs of various users.
The Coin Career Community offers several important elements:
Career and Postsecondary Exploration– This exploratory segment lets
users search current data on 2,000+ occupations, apprenticeships and
military jobs; access a Resume Builder with tips and options for
customization; view occupational interviews with experienced
professionals; locate jobs classified into U.S. Department of
Education's 16 Career Clusters; mine current data on more than 3,500
two-year and four-year colleges as well as private trade schools; and
access occupational videos in English and Spanish.
Assessments– This segment of the Career Community lets users access
Research-based interest and skills assessments, which help connect
specific results to career clusters and/or occupations. These
assessments are available in English and Spanish.
Academic Planning– This component lets users explore aspects of higher
education, and find institutions that meet their specific needs and
goals. It offers a four, five, or six-year academic planner with
drop-down course offerings; integrated, visible tracking of
dual/articulated credits in partnership with technical or community
colleges; crosswalks highlighting connections between high school
subjects and/or college majors and occupations, and a comprehensive
lifelong electronic portfolio (individual graduation portfolio),
including ability to download personal history.
Skill Development– This component of the Career Community helps
students to enhance their work-skills and knowledge through a series of
tools. It includes Journal prompts to promote analysis and growth of
workplace skills; Weekly quizzes to improve student achievement on SAT,
ACT, GED, and state proficiency tests; Daily history and vocabulary
quizzes to reinforce content acquisition; Student learning activities
connecting job skills to curriculum topics; and a Goal Builder to
identify important personal, career and academic goals.
Standards-Aligned Curriculum– This component offers Unit and Lesson
plans providing career options in cross-curricular areas. It is designed
to meet the objectives of No Child Left Behind and the ASCA National
Model, and includes content aligned with most state and local curriculum
standards.
Transition Tools– The Career Community provides a variety of tools to
add to the user experience including audio prompts for all assessment
questions, summary of performance module to record postsecondary
transition plans, and various life skills activities.
Administrative Reports/Management– The Career Community provides a
number of administrative options and reports for each user to customize
and learn from his/her experience. It offers hundreds of real-time
individual and aggregate reports on student usage, including reports by
career cluster. These reports can be filtered by gender, ethnicity, and
grade level. The system also offers the ability to upload course lists,
graduation requirements, and certain student data. Additionally,
Checklists are provided for completion of career-related activities.
Thank you for making this trial available to your schools.
