Summary of SLMS Conference

          I was very fortunate to receive a DCMO SLS scholarship to
attend this year’s School Library Media conference: Educational
Leaders @ Your Library. Not only did I spend three days immersed in
the culture of school libraries and literacy, I attended excellent
workshops and came away energized and inspired to enhance my library
program. Thank you, Chuck O’Bryan and SLS, for helping librarians
grow professionally and build library programs that support all
students and schools.

The most useful way to share conference highlights is to suggest the
websites below (all gathered from conference presenters). Our
combined knowledge is staggering!  Enjoy!

* del.icio.us bookmarks – Very easy way to share your bookmarks and
online resources with teachers, librarians and students.

* http://www.crbsls.org/information-fluency/index.html - Capital
Region BOCES SLS: entire K-12 standards-based library curriculum! Why
reinvent the wheel?

* http://animoto.com/business/education/ - Set up an educator’s
account and create thought-provoking, stimulating videos in minutes.
Very cool tool!

* http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/ - Check out ALL that Google
can do for you. Many great tools, including: iGoogle, Scholar,
Calendar, Docs, etc…

* http://www.planetesme.com/ - Webpage for SLMS keynote speaker, and
self-proclaimed readiologist, Esme Raji Codell. A very entertaining
and strong advocate for children’s reading. Check her out!
