[Dcmosls] Council Members

Good morning,

Once again I am appealing to your sense of service and asking you to serve on the SLS Council.  The service is certainly not onerous.  Council works to insure that services reach our districts and that the SLS is in compliance with state regulations.  Part of this compliance is in having a full slate of council members.  At present we have at least 4 vacancies to fill.  Term of service is 3 years with 4 required meetings per school year.  We have multiple categories to fill; one does not need to be a SLMS to sit on council.
 Please see the attached documents for the council meeting dates for the rest of school year 2009-10.  Additionally, the state regulations’ providing council guidelines is there as well.
 There is no leverage available on our part to compel anyone to serve.  In taking this to a more personal level, I have found that service on the SLMS board, the South Central Regional Library Council, on the AASL International Relations Taskforce, as an Emerging Leader and even during my six years of service on our local school board has at times challenged my schedule.  Yet, the interaction between other library and education professionals has been nothing but rewarding, engaging and supportive.
 Let me know if you might be able to shoehorn some time out of your schedule to support our SLS.  Your service would be greatly appreciated.
