Hi all,
Please take a look if grades 2-8 are something you can connect with. If you are working with older grades you might want to pass this along to an administrator in your district.

Subject: [NYLINE-S] PBS KIDS Raising Readers Library Corner
On behalf of the NYSED Office of Educational Television and Public Broadcasting, I'm writing to tell you about a new partnership opportunity between libraries and public television. Through the NYS Ready To Learn Statewide Planning Initiative, 27 public and/or school libraries in NYS will each receive a PBS KIDS Raising Readers Library Corner. The Library Corner materials are designed to help families with children ages 2 to 8 years develop early literacy and beginning reading skills. The materials range from self-directed activity sheets and online reading games to online videos and facilitator-led activities using media clips. The flexibility of these activities allows librarians to use the materials that work best for them and their communities.
This is an excellent opportunity for libraries and public broadcasting to work together in support of early literacy. Each PBS station will have three kits of materials to distribute.
To be selected for participation in this program, please contact your local PBS station as soon as possible.
Attached is a public broadcast station contact sheet as well as an overview of PBS Kids Raising Readers Library Corner.
PBS KIDS Raising Readers is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Ready To Learn grant and is a cooperative agreement of the U. S. Department of Education, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), PBS and The Ready To Learn Partnership to help children ages 2-8 build reading skills. The program serves a broad spectrum of children, with an emphasis on reaching low-income families. Selection of libraries for participation in the program will be determined by each PBS station,. The NYSL is not involved with the selection process.
