[Dcmosls] Top Ten Skills

Hello all-
 
At a SLS meeting - sometime this year - I mentioned that OV 6th graders complete the "Top Ten" - that is, the top ten library skills they will need for 7th grade. (My building is K-6.) Some people expressed an interest in seeing the "Top Ten" - so here they are, attached to this email.
 
Each year I change and tweak the top ten, as needs and technologies change. My goal is for these to be skills the kids can practice independently - just by following the top ten worksheet step by step.
 
I know that the best way for kids to learn is by using these skills in the context of research, etc. as they need them.. But it is also true that kids need to practice, and they do like having a list and a folder that shows them all the research/library skills they have.
 
For those who are interested - I bet you will have ideas to make the Top Ten much better, more thorough, more relevant, more useful...please share!
