Good morning,
My deepest regrets if your position is in jeopardy. Please consider the following pro-active steps if you have been told, or sense that major changes to library staffing are in the works.
1) Consider applying to Cherry Valley Springfield, a small rural district with a long history of strong library programs. Their librarian is retiring and they are currently seeking applicants. I know that it is a hike from the Norwich area to Cherry Valley, but sometimes you just have to drive.
2) No districts have formally requested BOCES' itinerant coser services for librarian positions at this time. If / when this request comes from two or more districts, a coser will be established and the associated position will be posted. The itinerant will be a BOCES' employee and as such will need to apply and interview for the position.
3) I spoke with Jo Ann Wormuth, head of personnel recruitment here this morning. She encourages that you polish up your resume and send in an application to her department for the itinerant position although there is no job at present and no posting yet. She will keep the resumes and applications on file in case the position is created and posted.
4) Take a look at your certification area(s) and see if you have other certification areas that might be applicable to other jobs.
I don't know if any of this helps, but please keep me informed as to what is happening in your school and district.
